Junior Classes - including Nursery (0-3), Builders (4-5), Explorers (6-7), Liberty Girls (8-11) and Knights of Freedom (8-11)

In our Junior School classes, we will use art, music, literature, writing, reading, poetry, and nature to explore cultures, people, and places to teach leadership and inspire the children to have a lifelong love of learning. Each class is specially designed to teach and inspire the children at their age levels.

Shield of Freedom - Mentors: Tia Fawson, Marie Arnold, Kira Johnson
A class for practice scholars to work on reading, writing, presentations, goal-setting, and projects. We focus on building integrity and courage through studying the lives and times of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkein and their writings.  Based around the timeless tales of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings.  This is such a fun launch into scholar classes!!  Ages 11-12
 
Our Story: Founding and Framing Freedom - Mentors: Jenny Barney, Shelley Schneider, Tenya Hall

This class is very similar to LEMI’s Key of Liberty, where we study the American Revolution, its leadership, and America's founding. Get ready for a fantastic class with a flexible reading list, more simulations, and lots of inspiring activities focused on our nation's founding and leadership. We will be discussing our readings in class, writing papers, and giving presentations. Ages 12-13
 
Rendezvous with Greatness - Mentors: Andrea Barney, Cherstie Woolf, Elisa Redhouse
This is our version of LEMI’s Sword of Freedom, meant to be taken after Our Story.  It delves into the history of the Civil War and World Wars I & II.  We’ll be reading, discussing, writing papers, and presenting in this class. By completing the first semester requirements you will earn a replica WWII sword!!  Age 13-14
 

Compass of Truth - Mentors: Lou Anne Randall, BreAn Buckner, Jennifer Fife, Toni Petersen

Join us on a journey through ancient history, exploring people and cultures while seeking for principles that have governed people and civilizations. In this course, we will be reading from great minds such as Plato, Aristotle, Confucius, Budda, and Archimedes. There will be opportunities to learn through reading, writing, creative projects, geography, tours, and individual and group activities. This class is the first in a four-year rotation focused on studying world history.  Ages 14-18
 
YE Shakespeare - Mentors: Rachelle Howard, Tia Fawson, Toni and Tyler Petersen
A fantastic and fun leadership class where we will study Shakespeare and put on our own play.  The play will be put on at the end of the school year (April or May) and involves a final tech week that will take over your life for a while!  But it will be something your kids will talk about and remember for the rest of their lives!!  More info on this class at www.yeshakespeare.com .  Ages 12-13
 

Advanced Theater/Improv - Mentors: Jenni Rock, Angela Adair

In advanced theater we will get to act, perform, and learn improv!  This class will put on a performance in early 2023 and round out the school year with activities and lessons from a fantastic improv curriculum!  Ages 14+

Art Class - Mentors: Melanie Petersen, Deidre Henkel

This one-hour weekly class will allow you to learn about art and explore your creative side! We will introduce famous artists such as Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and others. We will explore different art mediums, styles, and techniques.  Students will have lots of hands-on opportunities to create their own art, including participating in an art competition and art show!  Ages 12-18

 

Principles of Liberty - Lead Mentor: Jared Woolf

This class will focus on defining and understanding principles of liberty and how to apply them.  We will study how the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution define and protect our freedom.  We will read five short books (<100 pages), two longer books (250-300 pages), and listen to about 18 lecture sets from Liberty Classroom on how principles of liberty can be applied today.  Students will be required to read the book, or listen to the lecture set for the week, take notes so they can remember what they have learned, and come ready to discuss in class. Class time will primarily consist of open discussion. The expected homework load will be between 2.5 and 4 hours per week. All materials will be provided.  For ages 12 years and up, parents are welcome to attend as well.
